Here are some K-POP Glossary that you need to know
AR: Shorthand for "All Recorded", in which a song is played in full audio
and music. In the show, when the song is played, the singer AR will
lip-sync.
Abs: abs (abdominal muscles), which is shaped like the number "11."
4D Personality: A slang word which means someone with personality eccentric
or crazy, but they do not mean to insult but a compliment. Usually diapakai to
mention celebrities with a strong personality and unique, they have a little
different perspective with the most "3D".
Anti-fan: or more simply "anti". Primarily used to refer to someone who

90-Degree Bow: Style someone bent to a 90 degree angle, usually done to
honor someone more senior or thank the fans when completed in concert or as a
sign of apology for errors made.
Aegyo (애교): Action or the ability to show the cute side of a person.
All-kill: When a song artist or album managed to reach # 1 on all legal
download sites, such as Melon, Dosirak and Soribada. All-kill on the list of
daily charts (in the song was released) is considered normal for most popular
group, while it would be difficult to achieve for all-kill on a weekly or
monthly charts.
Bias: The idol group or singer or one member of the idol group is a
favorite among others.
CF: Stands of Commercial Film or short ad.
Chingu: that is a friend. Used to address other K-Pop lovers.
Comeback Stage: Shows the first music program to promote an album or
single. There is no minimum time an artist hiatus from the previous album until
he could return to the musical stage. The artist will usually appear in a
special comeback performance in every music program. On top of the stage they
are normally allowed to sing two songs.
Daebak: means "big victory", "great success" or something unbelievably
fabulous.
Digital Single: A song that is only available through online download * not
issued on CD *.
-Dol (- 돌): The short version of the word 'idol' is usually combined with
other words to describe a group or a person. Example. "Beastly-dols,"
"model-dols," "fairy-dols."
Dongsaeng (동생): Means "younger brothers," may refer to a sister who is a
blood relative or close friend that you think like his own sister. This word
works the same for women and men.
Fan Account: An account blog / mini homepage created by a fan who told me
about the contents of their favorite artists, not infrequently they told me
about the experience of meeting with the artist or anything related to his
obsession with the artist.
Fanboy: designation for fans guy
Fangirl: designation for girl fans
Fan-chant: The words shouted by the fans for the support of the singer on a
particular song, which was created in order to fit the melody. These words were
shouted in some parts again when a break in each line of lyrics so as not to
disturb the song of the singer. Fan-chants usually consists of a sequence of the
singer's name (if in the group).
Fancam: video artist who recorded directly by the fans.
Fan Club: club official and unofficial fan was set to be more organized
while supporting the artist.
Fandom: All matters relating to the world of fans of the artist / variety
show / movie / drama, and more.
Fanmade: Can be a video mixing, cover songs, or anything related to a
particular artist the work of a fan (not unlike the fanart = artwork in the form
of drawings, sketches, paintings).
Fan-meeting: An event organized by the artist to meet with his fans,
usually filled with question and answer sessions, play games, signatures, and
sing / mencover few songs.
Fan-project: A project organized by a fan club / group artist to celebrate
something related to the artist, ex: birthdays, anniversaries, N debut year, and
others. Usually they will mengajakan other fanclub members to collect some money
and make / buy / do something worthwhile for gift / dedicated (fangift) on the
artist.
Full Album: Album full which usually consists of about a dozen songs. Trend
recently usually filled with pop artist who released many singles and mini album
before releasing a full album.
Goodbye Stage: Shows the end of an artist in a music program before the end
of its sale of a song.
Hallyu: Or wave of Korean Culture (Korean Wave). Is the term given to the
popularity of Korean culture that has spread throughout the world.
Hanbok: Korean traditional dress. Usually characteristics enlivened with
bright colors and simple lines without pockets. The idols usually follow the
photo session wearing hanbok time of Chuseok.
Himnae (힘내): mean cheer up. An expression of encouragement, function is
similar to Hwaiting!
Hoobae (후배): A junior who is not more experienced than you in certain
areas. Age is not the main factor of this case, the important thing is who is

Hwaiting (화이팅): A phrase to encourage someone.
Hyung (형): Means a brother that is used by men who are younger.
Hyungnim (형님): How polite to say 'hyung.'
Idol: The general term for young K-Pop celebrities. Which makes them
different from the "singer" more is because they are trained first for many
years, in addition to singing also other things such as acting, MC, DJ, model
and dancing.
Makjang: A point on a plot in the K-Drama made too much, such as "Surprise!
you are siblings! ", or secret birth, cancer, an unexpected incident, the evil
stepmother, etc.
Maknae (막내): The youngest member of a group.
me2day: A social network created in Korea.
Mini Album: Usually two or three new songs, and also remixes or
instrumental in addition, issued between moments of releasing singles and full
albums.
MR: Shorthand for "Music Removed", a process of removing the music of a
song until only the sound of the artist could be heard. Usually used to hearing
how good a singer when performing live.
Music Program: Consists of programs shows like M! Countdown, KBS Music
Bank, MBC Music Core, SBS Inkigayo and others. When the promotion of a new song
or album, an artist will perform in this program to promote their newly released
song. MC from these programs changed several times each year.
MV: Music Video or video clip.
Netizen: The combination of the words 'Internet' and 'Citizen,' or an
active community in the use of internet.
Noona, Nuna or (누나): 1. The mean sister and used by boys younger. 2. The
title to call the boyfriend when the woman is older.
Nunim (누님): How polite to say 'nuna.'
Oppa (오빠): Mean older brother and used by children younger women. Can also
be used to call the boyfriend when the man is older.
Omona: An expression of the Korean version of "Oh my God!"
PV: In the J-Pop, this is a term for their promotional video, just like
(MV).
Pepero Day: A day that supposedly is almost the same as Valentine's Day in
Korea. Originally created by Lotte Confectionery companies to promote their
products in the form of a small rod-shaped biscuits dipped in chocolate, and is
celebrated every November 11 (according to the form 11-11) in which the young
people will provide each and biscuits Pepero together.
Pictorial = a collection of photos of an artist / a group, could be a photo
that is in a particular magazine or a collection of photos, which were recorded
(in the form of the book is usually called a pictorial book)
The repackaged album: When a full album was re-released with additional new
songs, or remixes. Usually released shortly after the album's first song is
promotional ends. * Example: finish promo SHINee Lucifer, repackaged album came
out and returned to the promo SHINee Hello *
Rookie: Group or the new singer debut. They are usually called 'rookie' at
least for a year.
Sasaeng: term for obsessive fans who always follow their favorite
celebrities wherever they go from morning till night. Almost the same as

Selca: The combination of the words "self" and "camera," which is a photo
taken personally by someone, usually performed in front of the glass. The idols
often selcas upload them on Twitter or Me2Day them.
Korean New Year Day or Korean New Year (설날) = designation for the Lunar New
Year or Lunar New Year feast in Korea. Today is the most important day in the
history of Korean traditional holidays, and are considered more important than
New Year's Day AD.
Ssi: means "lord" or "lady", usually used to call someone in a formal
context (or program broadcasting event) to honor someone, apply to women as well
as men. Calling someone older as ssi very strongly not recommended because it
can be called impolite, in this case "sunbaenim" or the title of a person would
be better used.
S-Line (에스 라인): Used to describe the shape / curve of the body of a
beautiful woman.
Subunit: Part of a group that was formed for the project promotion or
release the song.
Sunbae (선배): Senior or someone who is considered to have more experience
than you in a certain field. Age is not a major factor. Example: Big Bang
remains sunbaes for 2NE1, Bom and Dara although older than them. In the context

Sunbaenim (선배님): How polite to say 'sunbae.'
Title Track: The main song that is being promoted in an album or a single,
the song MV also be created and displayed in the music program.
Trainee: The term a aspiring singers / actors in their training period.
These people are considered trainees until they are out to make its official
debut. Duration of training varies, but usually can be more than two
years.
Triple Crown: The term rewards when the songs of an artist to win three
consecutive weeks in the music program M! Countdown and Inkigayo. The song was
later to be "retired" and can not win anymore. As for Music Bank they have no
restrictions victory.
Teaser: a video with a short duration before the full release.
Unni (언니): Means sister, primarily used by children younger women.
